Las Catalinas

Las Catalinas in Guanacaste Costa Rica is an emerging new urbanist community that adheres to the strong values of a family friendly walkable town that minimizes the use of cars and maximizes sociability.

Located just 1 hour west of the Liberia Airport by car, travel to Las Catalinas from Atlanta, Houston, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Austin, Miami and Charlotte makes this destination as easy to get to as any 4 to 8 hour drive destination in the United States. Increasingly, Costa Rica is becoming the Central American/Caribbean style experience destination for the new affluent and emerging value seeking retirement expats.

Sensitive to the environment like Costa Rica, Las Catalinas is set on 1200 acres of tropical dry forest land of which only 200 acres is slated for development. To date, Beachtown, which is the beach front 21 acres of residential and commercial development, anchors the town with more than 155 residential homes and flats. 1000 acres of the property will be maintained by the Las Catalinas Trust managed by the elected council of homeowners including more than 40km of hiking and biking trails. It is an oasis of wildlife and meditative peace.

Pura Vida Ride, The Santarena Hotel Casa Chameleon and Sentido Norte set the tone for a great stay. The New Celeste, the optional Beach Club and other great restaurants make this a 100% contained town. Copper and Stone groceries allows you to gather most things you need for cooking at home.

Live. Work. Play

Situated about 4km North of the Potrero soccer field (yes that is the way they address locations in Costa Rica) we Live, Work and Play in Las Catalinas in a wonderful home overlooking the beach club and the Pacific Ocean.

We enjoy this beach and the trails, biking to Flamingo, Brasalito and Tamarindo and we enjoy quiet walks around town as we settle in for fine food and fellowship with others that have chosen Las Catalinas as a home or home away from home.
A home in Las Catalinas has great value by comparison to other destinations. Getting to Las Catalinas is as affordable as any location you can think of by plane, and when considering all in costs, it is an affordable vacation destination when compared to popular areas including our other home of 30a in Florida.
